Henley, the co-founder of the Recording Artists Coalition, told LAUNCH that it's been a long and frustrating battle getting some of his peers to sign on for a fight that, if successful, would change the entire economic model that the recording industry is based on: "Artists have managed to get organized for all manner of other causes--for the rain forest, for the environment in general, for anti-nukes, for cures for cancer, for the homeless people, for hunger--all manner of charity work we've done. But we've never been able to get our sh-t together for ourselves, and we're getting reamed in Washington by the record companies, by the Internet companies, by big business in general. And if we're not careful, we're gonna sleep through the whole thing and have all our rights taken away from us."
Others expected in Washington today include Ted Nugent, Alanis Morissette, Hillary Rosen of the Recording Industry Association Of America, and Jack Valenti of the Motion Picture Association Of America.
