Source Awards To Tape Additional Footage; Police Seek E-40

Yahoo! Music, Aug 24, 2000 3:00 pm PDT
(8/24/00, 3 p.m. ET) - The publisher of the Source says that UPN will shoot remote performances and award segments for the broadcast of the second annual Source Hip-Hop Music Awards 2000, which will air as scheduled on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 8:00 p.m. (ET), despite the fact that the award program was cut short last Tuesday (LAUNCH, 8/23) after a number of fights broke out in the audience. Only five of the 15 awards were handed out at the event, which was held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif., due to the fights, which reportedly involved at least 75 people.

Police are seeking rapper E-40 for his role in the melee, according to an article published today in the Los Angeles Times. Pasadena police say the Vallejo, Calif., rapper is the suspect in a felony assault on a rival, the paper reports.

The fights that ended the event broke out moments after Mobb Deep and Lil' Kim finished performing the remix for "Quiet Storm."
