Eve & DJ Jazzy Jeff To Receive Recording Academy 2002 Heroes Awards

(2/5/02, 5 p.m. ET) -- Female rapper Eve and noted producer DJ Jazzy Jeff are among the honorees for the Philadelphia chapter of the Recording Academy's 2002 Heroes Awards scheduled to take place April 22 at 6 p.m. at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. The event will also recognize George Allen, David Dye, and Pat Martino.
"Heroes Awards are the highest honor bestowed by the Philadelphia chapter, and its recipients embody the standards of excellence and integrity that the Recording Academy champions and promotes," said Michael Greene, Recording Academy president/CEO. "On this evening, we will celebrate the important work of the Philadelphia music community as we showcase the amazing pool of talent that continues to make a significant impact on the world's music scene."
Proceeds from the program will benefit the MusiCares Foundation, music education programs, and the musicians' health and human services charity; as well as the Academy's professional education events for the music community of the Philadelphia region. The Awards program will also include a silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind music memorabilia, and travel and entertainment packages.
Eve's current single, "U, Me & She," from the Ruff Ryders's Ryde Or Die, Vol. 3, reached Number 52 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart last week. DJ Jazzy Jeff, one half of the due DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince with Will Smith, heads the production company A Touch Of Jazz, which has produced songs for Jill Scott, Smith, Musiq Soulchild, Kenny Lattimore, Tatyana Ali, MC Lyte, and Darius Rucker.
