In addition to Eve's performance, V-Day Harlem 2002 will feature a performance of Eve Ensler's play The Vagina Monologues, as well as music and dance. Some of the other stars and celebrities who will participate in the benefit include: Lisa Gay Hamilton, Rosie Perez, Lynn Whitfield, Salma Hayek, Naomi Campbell, Mary Alice, Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya, Kim Coles, Rosario Dawson, Madhur Jeffrey, Sakina Jaffey, Takayo Fischer, Free, Cynthia Garrett, Hazelle Goodman, Denyce Graves, Amy Hill, Bell Hooks, Miss Jones, LaChanze, Amel Larrieux, Joie Lee, Mariposa, Angie Martinez, Hibaaq Osman, Tonya Pinkins, Tamara Tunie, Lauren Velez, Lorraine Velez, and Kerry Washington.
The proceeds from the benefit will go to the African-American Task Force On Violence Against Women In Central Harlem, the Dominican Women's Development Center, the Violence Intervention Program, and Sakhi.
V-Day Harlem 2002 will be presented by Essence in association with HBO, CR Enterprises, Inc., and People En Espanol. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com and the Apollo Box Office.
