Eve Lands Deal With UPN For New Comedy Series

Music, Jan 10, 2003 10:00 am PST(1/10/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Rapper-actress Eve has translated her recent successes on the big screen, with roles in Barbershop and XXX, into a deal for a new television series with UPN. Eve will star as a fashion designer in a new comedy that will be produced Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Tracy Edmonds's Edmonds Entertainment.
Eve provided the concept for the show, which will center around the New York fashion scene and feature a multi-ethnic cast. Eve has some experience in the fashion industry as she is presently preparing to release her line of female clothing, Fetish, through Iceberg.
Bentley Evans, who was previously a writer for Martin and The Jamie Foxx Show, will write the script for the new comedy. Tracy and Babyface Edmonds, along with Eve's manager Troy Carter, will serve as executive producers, while the Ruff Ryders' "first lady" Eve will be credited as a producer.
On the musical front, Eve's latest album, Eve-olution, has been certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies. The set is Number 114 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
