Eve Shows in Court Early and On Track

Eve shadowed the courthouse earlier than expected this week.

The Grammy winner turned up in court Monday, four days before she was scheduled to appear to prove that she has been abiding by the terms of her probation on a misdemeanor DUI charge, according to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

Eve pleaded no contest June 28 to one count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent stemming from her arrest April 26, which occurred after she rammed her gold Maserati into a center divider on Hollywood Boulevard and then failed a Breathalyzer test administered by police.

She was sentenced to 36 months informal probation and ordered to don a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet for 45 days, enroll in a three-month first-offender alcohol education program and attend at least 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Apparently the "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" rapper paid careful attention to her to-do list, because a judge ruled today that she has been meeting her court-ordered requirements. She is required to show proof that she has completed the education program by Dec. 28.

A SCRAM bracelet checks for alcohol vapors released through the skin. While Eve is sporting the bling, she's not allowed to have any "measurable amount" of booze. (Meaning, eating Crêpes Suzette is probably okay.)

Tracy Morgan was sentenced to a similar term of ankle bondage after violating his probation on a DUI charge, and the recently rehabbed Lindsay Lohan is currently sporting one, as well—voluntarily—to avoid "questions about her sobriety if she chooses to go dancing or dining in a place where alcohol is served," per her publicist.

Meanwhile, it's no surprise that Eve wanted to get this show on the road, considering she's probably got better places to be these days.

The Barbershop actress, whose eponymous sitcom aired on UPN for three seasons, is currently putting the finishing touches on her fourth studio album, her first solo effort since 2002's Eve-olution.

"Tambourine," the first single from Here I Am, due out Sept.18, dropped in April. Guest artists on the rest of the presumably 14-track album include Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke, T.I., Sean Paul and reggae star Sizzla Kalonji.
