Fatboy Slim Spinning For World Cup

Yahoo! Music, Jun 3, 2002 5:00 pm PDT
(5/3/02, 5 p.m. ET) -- Fatboy Slim kicked off a series of DJ appearances surrounding the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Tokyo on Saturday (June 1). Slim, whose real name is Norman Cook, appears as the headliner of the "Kick And Spin" tour, scheduled to coincide with first-round games for the English soccer team.

So far, Slim and fans might be experiencing some disappointment--the English team tied 1-1 with Sweden in its first game Sunday (June 2) in Saitama.

Slim has four more World Cup-related appearances scheduled through June 11, the next being Wednesday (June 5) in Fukuoka. The English squad's next game is Friday (June 7) in Sapporo against Argentina.

The British artist is "the official DJ for World Cup 2002" according to his official website (gutterandstars.com).
