Glitter's return Friday ends a two-day odyssey after his release from a Vietnamese prison where he served time for molesting children.
Press Association says police officers were waiting to meet the 64-year-old. He had been refused entry to Thailand and then Hong Kong before agreeing to return to his native country.
Glitter's real name is Paul Francis Gadd. He was convicted in Vietnam in 2006 of committing "obscene acts with children" offenses involving girls aged 10 and 11. He had a previous conviction in Britain for possessing child pornography.
Glitter's most successful song, the crowd-pleasing anthem "Rock and Roll (Part 2)," cracked the top 10 in the U.S.
