Gretchen Wilson's 'Here For The Party' Is Top Debut Album Of 2004

Yahoo! Music, Jan 11, 2005 6:00 pm PST
Gretchen Wilson sold more than 2.9 million copies of Here For The Party in 2004, making it last year's leader for any debut album in any genre. Considering the album was released in mid-May, Gretchen set several astounding records in 2004. Here For The Party entered the Top 200 chart at Number Two. It also debuted at Number One on the country album chart. And "Redneck Woman" spent six weeks at Number One on the country singles chart -- the longest run for a debut country female since 1964.

Gretchen Wilson is scheduled to appear on an episode of CNN's People In The News in February. She's already appeared on 60 Minutes.

Gretchen won the American Music Award for breakthrough favorite new artist in November.

The singer is scheduled to be the opening act on the Somewhere In The Sun tour, featuring Kenny Chesney and Uncle Kracker.
