Guns N' Roses Tour Finally Officially Canceled
Yahoo! Music, Dec 11, 2002 8:00 pm PST(12/11/02, 8 p.m. ET) -- The much-troubled Guns N' Roses tour has been officially canceled after Clear Channel, the tour's promoters, pulled the plug on the dates on Wednesday (December 11).
The band had 13 dates booked through January 14. Half of were canceled on Tuesday (December 10). The management and the promoter couldn't work out a deal to keep the tour going. The promoter put a moratorium on the tour after a riot ensued on Friday night (December 5) outside the Spectrum after it was announced Guns N' Roses would not be performing the first of two nights there.
The Clear Channel statement reads, "The remainder of the Guns N' Roses dates promoted by Clear Channel Entertainment have been canceled. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase. Clear Channel Entertainment takes pride in bringing live entertainment to the public. We apologize for any inconvenience to all the fans who purchased tickets."
Several rumors have been swirling about the future of the ill-fated Guns. One rumor has bassist Tommy Stinson and guitarist Robin Finck leaving the band, but another suggests that Guns N' Roses may attempt to hit the road in early 2003 with another promoter. The band's publicist was unavailable at press time.
Guns N' Roses last date was Thursday night (December 5) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
