Hoobastank's Dan Estrin Talks About Recovery From Accident

Yahoo! Music, Oct 10, 2003 3:00 pm PDT
(10/10/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- No one thought Hoobastank guitarist Dan Estrin was seriously injured at first, when he hit his head on the ground after falling off his motorbike after a show in South Carolina in August. However, doctors soon discovered a blood clot pushing against Estrin's brain that required surgery.

Estrin needed almost a month to recuperate and told LAUNCH what was going through his mind during that time: "In the time that I was home and I was recovering and I was in bed every day, and just hanging out around the house, you know, and waking up in the morning and having to look at myself in the mirror, and seeing this huge scar on the side of my head and stitches, you know, and like, having to take Vicodin and couldn't really stand up straight, I was like, 'Dude, this was serious, you know?' And the fact that it was something so small, and didn't even seem serious, like turned out to be serious, really freaked me out."

The Reason arrives in stores on December 9. It follows up the band's self-titled 2001 major label debut, which has sold over a million copies. The first single is "Out Of Control."

Hoobastank is currently on the Nokia Unwired Tour 2003, along with the All-American Rejects, Diffuser, and Ozomatli. Upcoming tour dates include:

October 10 - Detroit, MI - State Theater

October 11 - Indianapolis, IN - Egyptian Room/Mural Center

October 12 - Chicago, IL - Riviera Theatre

October 13 - St. Louis, MO - Pageant Theatre

October 16 - Orlando, FL - Hard Rock Live
