White Stripes rocker Jack White forms new group
Reuters, Mar 12, 2009 5:00 pm PDTWhite Stripes frontman Jack White has formed a second side project called The Dead Weather. Its debut album, "Horehound," is due June 9 on White's Third Man Records imprint. Two of the songs are available now on iTunes: "Hang You From The Heavens" and a cover of Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric?" The Dead Weather is planning to support "Horehound" with a tour this June.
He shares vocal duties with Alison Mosshart, frontwoman with The Kills, and also plays drums. The lineup also includes Jack Lawrence, the bass player with White's other project the Raconteurs, and Queens of the Stoneage guitarist Dean Fertita.
The group on Wednesday debuted a handful of new tracks for 150 guests attending the opening of White's new Nashville headquarters. The office also includes a vinyl shop, photography studio and performance stage.
