(10/8/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay appeared at Bow Street Magistrates in London on Monday (October 8) to deny charges of common assault and criminal damage after an alleged incident with a photographer. Dennis Gill accused Kay of smashing his camera equipment and then assaulting him outside a London nightclub on April 14.
Kay appeared in a dark blue suit and trademark black hat, and that the only words he spoke in court were his name and a plea of "not guilty" to the charges presented, according to the Associated Press. The case was adjourned for a hearing on October 22, which Jay Kay is not required to attend.
