Jamiroquai singer in paparazzi brawl

Yahoo! Music, Sep 13, 2006 4:00 pm PDT
Jamiroquai star Jay Kay has been cautioned by police after an altercation with photographers outside a London nightclub yesterday morning.

The singer is believed to have become involved in a fracas with two members of the paparazzi at around 2am on Tuesday in London's Soho neighborhood.

Kay, who has been involved in a series of clashes with the media during his pop career, was apparently cautioned for common assault following the incident.

Unconfirmed reports allege he hit a pair of snappers and then abused police outside Kabaret's Prophecy in West London, before being arrested and later released.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said after the incident: "At approximately 2 a.m. this morning an officer on routine patrol in Upper John Street was alerted to a large crowd of people, including photographers, outside a nightclub.

"A man approached the officer and alleged he had been assaulted at the scene. He did not require hospital treatment. There are no further details about injuries.

"A man believed to be in his thirties was arrested in connection with the allegation and he has been taken to a central London police station where he remains in custody."

Ironically, it is understood that the photographers on the scene were actually attempting to get shots of Lindsay Lohan, not Kay.
