By the mid-'90s, though, the music bug was still in his system. A former short-order cook as a teenager, Collett teamed up with Andrew Cash and Hawksley Workman for an alternative country outfit entitled Bird. The group's album, Chrome Reflection, was rich in pop, rock, and country. Collett also began hosting a series of singer/songwriter performances that featured members of Blue Rodeo, 54-40, and Skydiggers, among others.
In 2001, Collett released his debut album, Bitter Beauty, and continued hosting the Flood Family songwriters' forum, which toured throughout Ontario. He has also been featured on several compilations, including a benefit for GASCD, a group dedicated to help ease legal fees for social activists and protesters. In 2006, Collett issued his second album, Idols of Exile, in the States. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
