Timbaland says Jay-Z is back

Yahoo! Music, Jul 20, 2006 2:00 pm PDT
Jay Z's return to music is expected to be confirmed shortly, with the news that he's back in the studio with Timbaland.

The retired hip-hop superstar has been linked with a host of big-name producers in recent months, as the rumors escalate about his return to the hip-hop game.

However, Timbaland, who has contributed to the majority of Jay's most acclaimed works, including The Blueprint and The Black Album, has now confirmed that he's back in the studio. Speaking to the BBC, Timbaland said: "Hip-Hop is too easy for me. I've got to do something that's challenging. The only thing I got coming out is Jay-Z.

"I'm not trying to do anything new. I'm trying to do pop. I'm trying to bring top 40 into the hood."
