Emmy Award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer will star as Ebenezer Scrooge. The cast includes Jason Alexander as Jacob Marley, Jesse L. Martin as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Jane Krakowski as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Geraldine Chaplin as the Ghost of Christmas Future and Jennifer Love Hewitt as Emily, Scrooge's lost love.
Hallmark Entertainment will present the musical, which is being produced in Budapest, Hungary.
The program is part of the booming trend of made-for-TV musicals.
This one will be based on the Madison Square Garden production of "A Christmas Carol," which features lyrics by Tony Award winner Lynn Ahrens (who wrote the teleplay) and the music of Academy Award and Grammy Award-winning composer Alan Menken ("Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast").
