Juvenile Arrested For Allegedly Beating Barber For Bootlegging
Yahoo! Music, Sep 19, 2002 3:00 pm PDT(9/19/02, 3 p.m. ET) -- Former Cash Money Millionaires member Juvenile was released on bond on Tuesday (September 17) after turning himself to authorities in New Orleans.
Juvenile was charged with simple battery and simple burglary in relation to an incident that took place May 29 at a New Orleans grocery store, where he allegedly punched his barber, Bert Williams, and then two unidentified associates of the rapper took $200 from Williams's pockets. According to police, Juvenile and Williams got into an argument because Williams allegedly bootlegged copies of Juvenile's next album from an advance CD that he'd received from the rapper.
New Orleans police spokesman Sergeant Paul Accardo explained the situation to WDSU NewsChannel 6, "It's usually not something we see everyday when someone is accused of infringing on copyright laws. Our main focus is to concentrate on the criminal offense that occurred, because after the victim was attacked, money was stolen and that constitutes a robbery."
A court date has not been set for Juvenile, who is also facing separate charges of issuing worthless checks from an unrelated incident.
