Keith Richards 'ashes' comment causes panic at Disney

Yahoo! Music, Apr 5, 2007 1:00 pm PDT
Keith Richards' comments to NME that he has snorted his dad's ashes has alarmed Disney, the company behind the forthcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean 3 film.

As previously reported, the Rolling Stones guitarist's story became an international talking point.

Now the marketing team behind Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End--the film in which Richards plays Johnny Depp's father--are worried about the effects of Richards' comments on the film.

Dennis Rice, a senior vice president at Disney, said: "When [a senior Disney publicist] forwarded the [Richards] story to me...I thought. 'How are we going to spin this?'"

He added: "Keith won't be doing a lot of publicity for this movie."

A release date for the movie has not been announced, reports L.A. Times. It is, however, strongly tipped to come out in the summer.
