The Las Vegas rockers have reworked the group's track "Shadowplay," which was originally featured on Joy Division's landmark debut LP Unknown Pleasures in 1979.
It will feature on the soundtrack to the Anton Corbijn-directed Control, which is based on Touching From A Distance, the book written by Ian Curtis's widow Deborah.
The soundtrack to the biopic, which is currently being filmed, is also set to feature new music from New Order, plus their own covers of Joy Division tracks.
Meanwhile, Corbijn has responded to claims from New Order bass player Peter Hook that he's been having too much influence over the movie and interfering with their work.
Hook apparently commented recently: "We're supposed to [record the film's soundtrack] but the problem is that he's telling us what to do. If we don't tell him how to direct, why is he telling us how to make music?"
Corbijn has now dismissed claims of a rift, commenting: "There is no argument whatsoever between New Order and myself or Hooky and me. I am in control of Control as any director worth his celluloid should be in charge of his film, but I am not telling the band that I moved to the U.K. for in 1979 how to write songs. Please. I wouldn't dare."
