Lauryn Hill's 'Best Man' Is Marley

Yahoo! Music, Sep 16, 1999 4:00 pm PDT
(9/16/99, 1 p.m. PDT) - Fugees frontwoman Lauryn Hill is just one of the R&B/ hip-hop superstars to grace the roster of the forthcoming Best Man soundtrack, due Oct. 12. Hill will do a duet with Bob Marley's previously recorded vocal on his classic "Turn Your Lights Down Low."

Produced by the late reggae great's son Stephen Marley, the track--which will be produced in a similar fashion as the Natalie and Nat King Cole duet of "Unforgettable"--will also be featured on the all-star tribute album, Bob Marley: Chant Down Babylon, a collection of songs featuring Busta Rhymes, the Roots, Erykah Badu, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler dueting with Marley's vocal recordings. The album is tentatively set for an Oct. 26 release.

According to a spokesperson for Hill, "Turn Your Lights Down Low" is a major priority for the artist and the video will be "like something you've never seen before."

Best Man is an urban romantic comedy starring Taye Diggs, Nia Long, and Morris Chestnut. The movie, which arrives in theaters next month, has been described as "The Male Waiting To Exhale." The movie and soundtrack is due out next month. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include Maxwell, the Roots, Meshell Ndegéocello, Eric Benet, Kenny Lattimore, Faith Evans, and Ginuwine.

Features on Natalie Cole, the Roots, Erykah Badu, Meshell Ndegéocello, Eric Benet, Kenny Lattimore, and Ginuwine are available on LAUNCH.com. A transcript of an exclusive chat with Ginuwine is also available.
