(12/17/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- LeAnn Rimes's recent engagement to dancer Dean Sheremet will culminate in the couple's wedding on February 23 in Dallas. Rimes, who first flashed her two-plus-carat engagement ring at last week's Elton John AIDS benefit concert in Los Angeles, met Sheremet 18 months ago. Sheremet was one of Rimes's dancers during her performance of "Can't Fight The Moonlight" on the Academy Of Country Music Awards in May 2000.
The 19-year-old singer will be walked down the aisle by her grandfather, according to a source. Rimes and her father and former manager, Wilbur Rimes, have been at odds since she sued him last spring for bilking her out of millions of dollars. Rimes lives with Sheremet in her Los Angeles home.
Meanwhile, Garth Brooks's divorce from Sandy Brooks, his wife of 14 years, has been finalized. Details of the settlement have been sealed. The singer filed for divorce on November 6, 2000, citing irreconcilable differences. The two have been separated since March 1999. Brooks currently splits his time between Nashville and Oklahoma, where his three young daughters are being raised.
