Vocalist and guitarist Tasha Ray-Evin told LAUNCH that as an all-female pop-rock band that writes its own songs, Lillix has to overcome some of the stereotypes people have about them. "They automatically assume our record label saw how successful Avril [Lavigne] was and then they found four girls and like put them together or something," Ray-Evin. "We've heard lots of crap. There's a little bit of a sexist thing going on too. There's a out of girls out there who haven't written their songs in the past and they assume that we are following in their footsteps, which isn't true."
Bassist Louise Burns and keyboardist Lacey-Lee Evin added that all-female bands often don't get taken seriously. "There should be more female artists out there," Burns said. Evin added, "Yeah, hopefully we could break this stupid stereotype. It's really unfair to people coming out. Like, I know the Donnas have encountered it too. It's not fair, you know, we're just a bunch of girls that are in a band. It's like no big deal."
Lillix recently signed on to record the Go-Go's "This Town" for the theme song of the new MTV show Rich Girls. The show follows Tommy Hilfiger's daughter, Ally Hilfiger and Jamie Gleicher as the two wealthy teens shop and have fun in New York City, and it kicks off at 10:30 p.m. ET on October 28.
Lillix recently released "Tomorrow" the second single from their debut album Falling Uphill. The music video for "Tomorrow" was directed by Smith N' Borin.
