Bennington Suffering From Bite

Yahoo! Music, Aug 13, 2001 7:00 pm PDT
(8/13/01, 7 p.m. ET) -- Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington will seek treatment for a poisonous spider bite he received on August 8 at a hotel in the Boston area (Mansfield, Massachusetts) while on OzzFest tour. A portion of Bennington's arm has swelled, and he was running a fever, but he did manage to complete the two remaining OzzFest shows at PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey over the weekend (August 11 and 12). A management representative said that people who are bit by a Recluse Spider usually require hospitalization.

The end of the tour couldn't have come at a better time. Guitarist Brad Delson told LAUNCH he's exhausted from the 11-week tour and the OffFest. The latter trek filled in the gaps of OzzFest itinerary with shows featuring several of the mainstage acts minus Black Sabbath. Delson was asked if the band would do another OffFest-type tour next year.

"I think we'd still do it, just because when you're on the road, you're on the road. Our thinking was, like, we'd rather get more done in this amount of time since we are committed to being out here than just spend three days in a hotel room, because that makes the time go by really slowly," he said.

After a short break, Linkin Park will play the U.S. version of the Reading Festival in Camden, New Jersey on September 8, head overseas for some European shows, then gear up for the Family Values tour with Staind and Stone Temple Pilots in the fall.
