While the entry was a distant second to Bruce Springsteen's The Rising, of which more than a half-million copies were sold, the album did push Nelly's Nellyville to Number Three and other hits like Eminem's The Eminem Show and Dave Matthews Band's Busted Stuff further down the chart.
The debut is likely good news for Linkin Park, whose members have been wondering if fans would be there for an album that features guest rappers, DJs, and rock musicians reworking their blockbuster debut album Hybrid Theory. DJ Joseph Hahn tells LAUNCH while he has long considered his musical taste to be eclectic, he doesn't know if that's the case with Linkin Park fans.
"We all grew up, you know, kinda liking different things and having different musical tastes. For instance, like, at one point when I was in the beginning of high school I was listening to everything from Dr. Dre and some of the stuff that was going on with N.W.A., but also, like, Anthrax. That was perfectly normal, this was in Southern California. But in other parts of the world, other parts of the country let alone other parts of the world, that isn't necessarily as prevalent. So, I'm excited to see, you know, to see where people are at."Hahn adds, "It'll be a good test to see where our fanbase lies and what their mentality is."
