Reunited To Launch Tour

Yahoo! Music, Mar 26, 2001 3:00 pm PST
(3/26/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- Living Colour is back in action again. The quartet's second lineup has reunited for a short run of May dates on the West Coast, and it's expected that more North American and European gigs will follow. The group--guitarist Vernon Reid, vocalist Corey Glover, bassist Doug Wimbish (who replaced original member Muzz Skillings in 1992), and drummer Will Calhoun--split up in the mid-'90s after three albums and a series of tours, including an opening spot on the Rolling Stones' 1989 Steel Wheels outing. The individual members have pursued separate projects but never ruled out the possibility of reuniting. In just the past few months, the band got together for a December show at CBGB's in New York City, and Wimbish and Calhoun recently backed singer-songwriter David Garza at the South By Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas. No recording plans have been announced.

Living Colour rose to prominence on the strength of its 1988 debut album Vivid, which featured the hit "Cult Of Personality." The band won a best hard rock performance Grammy for the song and Vivid has been certified double-platinum. The follow-up album, 1990's Time's Up, also won the best hard rock performance Grammy and has been certified gold.

The Living Colour itinerary includes (subject to change):

May 7 - Portland, OR - Crystal Ballroom

May 8 - Seattle, WA - Showbox Theater

May 9 - San Diego, CA - 4th & B

May 10 - Los Angeles, CA - Key Club

May 12 - San Francisco, CA - Slim's

May 13 - Santa Ana, CA - Galaxy Theater
