To Kick Off Solo Headling Tour In February

Yahoo! Music, Jan 15, 2002 3:00 pm PST
(1/15/02, 3 p.m. ET) -- When Michelle Branch's promotional tour of Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan in wraps later this month, the singer-songwriter will then embark on her first headlining tour of the U.S. The concert tour, which begins in early February, will include stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Boulder, Colorado, among other places. A complete list of tour dates will be announced shortly.

This was not Branch's first promotional trip to the Far East. The singer-songwriter explained to LAUNCH that last time she visited Japan she quickly learned the meaning of culture shock. "I was so homesick when I was overseas because I was, like, 'This is so different.' I was in Japan and I was, like, 'I don't know how to read any of this. I don't know what anyone's saying. I want to go home,'" she said.

Branch told LAUNCH she enjoyed her last tour in September with Lifehouse and the Calling. "I went on the road with Lifehouse for like six weeks, and that really became like a home. We had our bus, and we had everyone who we saw every day, and it was like the family away from home," she said.

Branch's latest single, "All You Wanted," shipped to radio earlier this month and is already being played on 144 stations across the country. In its first week at radio, "All You Wanted" was the Number One most added song at Modern AC radio, and the Number Three most added at Top 40 radio.

Branch's upcoming television appearances include MTV's Total Request Live (TRL) Thursday (January 17) and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Friday (January 18). ABC Family's All Access 24/7 show featuring Branch will air at end of January, and a CBS 48 Hours feature piece is set to run this spring.

Branch's new music video for "All You Wanted" was shot in Los Angeles in December, and it will premiere on TRL Thursday. Branch's Maverick Recordings debut album, The Spirit Room, was recently certified gold by the Recording Industry Association Of America.
