The multiplatinum-selling rap star has announced her latest studio album, Block Party, will drop in August, but a specific release date has not been set.
The new, dance-heavy record was originally due to drop in May, but, according to Billboard, it was postponed to give her more time to finish the tracks, which feature assists from such all-star producers as Soul Diggas, Pharrell, T-Pain, Danjahandz, Point Guard and her favorite collaborator, Timbaland.
"This album is probably more musical and melodic than my previous ones," she said. "A lot of my albums are really hip-hop driven, with tinges of other music genres. But this album is hip-hop, with a sort of U.K. hip-hop sound to it."
Among the tunes already confirmed for the set is "Ching-a-Ling," which premiered on Elliott's website and MySpace page and served as the lead single for the soundtrack to Step Up 2: The Streets, released back in January.
Other songs include' "Hip-Hop Don't Die," featuring Jazmine Sullivan, the Timbaland number "Shake Your Pom Pom," "Milk & Cookies" and "Best Best," which will be Block Party's first single and video. Among the guest vocalists rumored to be on board are Keyshia Cole and T-Pain.
