Yahoo! Music, Aug 16, 2003 10:00 am PDT
(8/16/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Mos Def and Talib Kweli will give a keynote lecture at the international Hip-Hop And Social Change Conference to be held from October 3 through 5 at the Field Museum in Chicago. They will talk about the importance of artistic and cultural influence in the hip-hop community as well as music's impact on social change.

The conference will explore key issues directly impacting members of the hip-hop community and young people. It will be centered on using hip-hop as a way to build awareness through political participation, education, and artistic activity.

Mos Def is expected to release his long-awaited sophomore set, Mos Def Presents The Black Jack Johnson Boogie Man Show, this fall. The album will feature guest appearances from Ludacris and Foxy Brown.

Mos Def's debut solo album, 1999's Black On Both Sides, was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies.

Kweli performed last weekend with Boot Camp Clik and Dead Prez, among others, at the sixth annual Black August benefit in Brooklyn, New York.
