The Murder City Devils are a rock 'n' roll band. Emerging from punk groups such as Area 51, the Deathwish Kids and the Unabombers, these five Seattlites (vocalist Spencer Moody, bassist/ organist Derek Fudesco, guitarist Nate Manny, guitarist/ organist Dann Gallucci, and drummer Coady Willis) have gone back to the roots of the great American dream and updated it to the '90s. They build classic danceable songs with a dark nasty feel, bouncing between fast-paced rock 'n' roll and stripped-down organ ooze. Singer Moody confronts the audience with an overwhelming gospel of attitude. Live or on wax, they will get your butt shakin'. Their self-titled debut album (released in August '97 on new Seattle label Die Young Stay Pretty) is based on the idea that rock 'n' roll should come out of the speakers and kill you. Love it or hate it, you won't forget it.
