Myron Avant has begun his career with a large amount of hype surrounding his affiliation with Magic Johnson's record label, being referred to as one of music's newest singing sensations. The multi talented singer, writer, and producer grew up in Cleveland, OH's 110th & Woodland area, and first sang when he was five. Avant uses his surname to avoid confusion with another R&B artist named Myron. He studied music and drama at the Cleveland School of Arts, graduating in 1995. During and after graduation, he entered and won many talent contests, proving that he could compete with anybody. R&B stars Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat, among others, encouraged him to pursue his goals. Avant loves old school sounds but hates the term, preferring to call it "just good music." He caught a huge break when former NBA Basketball Star, Magic Johnson signed Avant to his newly started Magic Johnson Music distributed by MCA Records.
