Nelly Buys Into NASCAR Truck Team
Yahoo! Music, Mar 5, 2003 3:00 pm PST(3/5/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- Grammy Award-winning rapper Nelly has purchased a part of Billy Ballew Motorsports, a Craftsmen Truck team, for the rest of the season.
Nelly's new truck, which will be driven by veteran NASCAR truck driver Andy Houston until a minority driver can be found, will make its debut at the Darlington 200 truck race at South Carolina's Darlington Raceway on March 14. The truck will feature Nelly's Vokal clothing line label.
Nelly's representative Michael Warmack told AP, "Nelly is a race fan, he's been one for a long time. We're very excited about him becoming a team owner."
Warmack, who will be the point person for the Atlanta-based Vokal Racing Team, continued, "He thinks he can help bring more minorities to this sport. We're happy we can be part of this with NASCAR."
