Nelly, P. Diddy, Smokey Robinson & Chaka Khan Tapped For 'Essence' Festival
Yahoo! Music, Mar 24, 2003 4:00 pm PST(3/24/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Nelly, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Smokey Robinson, and Chaka Khan have been tapped to perform at this summer's Essence Music Festival. The three-day event happening July 3-5 in New Orleans will offer up R&B, hip-hop, jazz, reggae, and comedic performances, as well as empowerment seminars.
Nelly and the St. Lunatics, Keith Sweat, Third World, Dianne Reeves, and Jamie Foxx are on the lineup for Thursday (July 3), while P. Diddy, Jaheim, Wanda Sykes, A.J. Jamal, New Edition, Biz Markie, Doug E. Fresh, Michael Franks, S.O.S. Band, Carl Thomas, Loon, and Khan will perform Friday (July 4).
Robinson, Anita Baker, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Will Downing, Nappy Roots, Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers, Bobby "Blue" Bland, and Heather Headley are among Saturday's (July 5) performers.
The Essence Music Festival concerts will take place at the Louisiana Superdome, while seminars will happen at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. For more information about the festival, go to essence.com.
