Nelly Pimps New Energy Drink
Yahoo! Music, Aug 21, 2003 5:00 pm PDT(8/21/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Soon Nelly fans can sing along with his hit song "Pimp Juice" and sip on the rapper's newly-launched energy drink at the same time. Nelly and his company, Team Lunatics, have launched a juice named after the song, which is featured on his 2002 album release titled Nellyville.
The bright-green-colored drink consists of 10 percent apple juice and is chock full of vitamins. It also contains the natural stimulant guarana. Nelly told AllHipHop.com, "There may be several drinks out there claiming to boost liveliness, but the energy drink market still provides many untapped marketing opportunities."
Nelly will donate some proceeds from the drink to his non-profit organization, 4Sho4Kids. The company plans to award a hard-working high school graduate with a college scholarship each year.
Nelly also owns the Vokal men's clothing line, the Apple Bottoms women's line, the label Derrty Entertainment, and he is part owner of a NASCAR team.
Nelly is nominated for a 2003 MTV Video Music Award in the category of best R&B video for the song "Dilemma" featuring Kelly Rowland.
Nelly is among the stars who will make cameos in Alien Ant Farm's new video for "These Days." Other artists making appearances include P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Lil' Kim, Brian McKnight, LaToya Jackson, Mike Tyson, Johnnie Cochran, and Magic Johnson.
