Nelly To Release Two New Albums On The Same Day

Music, May 3, 2004 2:00 pm PDTWhile rappers like the Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, OutKast, and more recently Lil' Flip have been releasing double albums for years, Nelly is raising the bar by releasing two separate albums on the same day. MTV.com reports that Nelly will release two separate albums on August 17. The two albums will be dissimilar, as one will be a party-oriented set while the other will be more edgy. Nelly will release a single and video from each album.
While Nelly is the first rapper to release two new albums on the same day, rockers Guns N' Roses and Bruce Springsteen have done it in the past.
Nelly's last release was 2003's remix set, Da Derrty Versions - The Reinvention, which was certified platinum for sales of one million copies. The rapper's 2000 debut, Country Grammar, has sold over eight million copies, while its follow-up, 2002's Nellyville, isn't too far behind as it recently passed the six million sales mark.
