The Northern California band has 14 shows on the itinerary through late June, beginning Saturday at the Float Rite Park Amphitheatre in Somerset, Wisconsin. Most of the shows currently scheduled are part of local radio-sponsored festivals.
What fans will likely learn upon hearing the group's new material is that Papa Roach is moving beyond the rap-metal for which it is best known on songs such as "Last Resort." Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix (formerly Coby Dick) tells LAUNCH, "Rap-metal just kinda puts like a time limit on your band, you know? If you just go, "OK, we're a rap-metal band,' then that's the time limit for your band, you know? Even since we started we just, like, kinda wanted to know ourselves as a, like a rock band. On this record we kind of proved that rock side of our band more, and, like, I think that will give us a little more longevity with the band, just coming down to not writing the same record twice."
Papa Roach follows up these shows with a spot on the Anger Management tour with Eminem, Ludacris, Xzibit, and the X-Ecutioners. That tour kicks off July 18 at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York.
