While many artists tend to get involved with projects only after other respected acts have been confirmed, Pharoahe said that the lineup did not influence his decision to participate on the alternative rock/hip-hop band's album.
At first when they came to me with my individual song, I wasn't aware of who else would be on the project," Pharoahe told LAUNCH. "I took it smash in the face for what it was, and just tried to lend my talents to that particular song. Then, later finding out the other artists that were involved, I was like, 'This is going to be a tight project.' Because I'm fans of [Planet] Asia, Dilated [Peoples], and [Black] Thought, and all the other artists as well."
