"To me, the Pixies were the band that broke the alternative market," says the Glue Factory's Kevin Knight, who is producing the album. "They were the band that made it OK to be on the radio if you weren't on a major label and they made it OK to use loud guitar again."
The album, which is titled Where Is My Mind?, is slated for an early 1999 release. Those acts that have already chosen songs include Letters To Cleo ("Debaser"), Nada Surf ("Velouria"), Far ("Monkey Gone To Heaven"), Getaway Cruiser ("Gigantic") and Get Up Kids ("Alec Eifel"). Others expected to appear on the album include Red 5, Samiam and Siren Six. Knight is also continuing to accept submissions from other acts.
