Former Porno For Pyros Guitarist Gives Free MP3
Yahoo! Music, Dec 28, 1998 4:00 pm PST(12/28/98, 1 p.m. PST) - Free MP3 digital music files by the Beastie Boys (myLAUNCH, 12/23) and Billy Idol may have been recently pulled from the Web (myLAUNCH, 12/22), but one artist is still in the holiday spirit.
Initially, former Porno For Pyros guitarist Peter DiStefano debuted his new project, Rambient, at www.peopletree.com at the cost of $3 per track, with a portion of the proceeds earmarked for donation to the Musicians Assistance Program and Rainbow Babies, a children's cancer research center (myLAUNCH, 12/4).
Now, however, DiStefano has made the track "Starry Eyed" available for free at www.audiodiner.com. Aside from serving as a founding member of Porno For Pyros, DiStefano has played guitar on projects by Scott Weiland, Paula Cole, Tricky, Wailing Souls, and Mike Watt.
In Rambient, DiStefano handles vocals and guitars. The band also features bassist Bruce Palma, programmer Mac Mentor, percussionist Ravi, and backing vocalist Joanna DeSeyne.
