(3/10/00, 7 a.m. ET) - Saying he's found "salvation in the expansiveness of electronica," Perry Farrell is hunkered down in a Los Angeles recording studio working on his next album, The Diamond Jubilee.

For the sessions, the former Jane's Addiction/ Porno For Pyros frontman is working with the production team the Neptunes, known in hip-hop circles for its work with Ol' Dirty Bastard, Noreaga, and Kelis. Farrell will reportedly work with other studio gurus as the project progresses.

"This is where music is heading: ancient, global music married to beautiful modern technology to awaken our spirituality," Farrell says in a statement. "I've found salvation in the expansiveness of electronica...opening the door to an endless combination of sounds as old as time with fresh-baked rhythms like bread and wine."

Speaking of the ancient bread-and-wine symbolism in religion, Farrell says the album is based on the concept of Jubilee, which ties into forgiving third-world debt. "Why would they implement these laws. The Torah has got so many amazing ideas that create so many amazing values for us as human beings," he says. "There is no other system that would free a captive. And if you want to argue a point, just look at the economy -- the global economy. You have countries that have been in economic slavery since before we were born and they will never get out. The only way to do it is to do it the way the Torah asked us to do it, which is drop the debt in 50 years."

The Diamond Jubilee, Farrell's debut for Virgin Records, is tentatively scheduled for a late summer release.
