Prince rejects Jacko tour offer

Yahoo! Music, May 31, 2007 3:00 pm PDT
Prince has snubbed Michael Jackson's request for the pair to tour together this summer, according to reports.

The diminutive legend was apparently approached by his embattled pop contemporary as he prepares for this summer's enormous London residency.

Jackson has recently been working on his first new album since 2001's Invincible, and is also mapping out plans for a live return.

However, Prince is understood to have rejected the offer according to a "source," who explained: "Michael seemed pretty gutted about it. He said he'd approached Prince to see if he would like to work together. But Prince wasn't interested in gigging with him.

"There would be so much hype surrounding Wacko's first gig it would end up turning into the Michael Jackson show. Prince had his own plans. He is a legend in his own right. He doesn't need to be support for anyone," the source told London's The Sun.

Meanwhile, Prince, who plays gigs throughout August and September at the O2 Arena in London, has also announced he will appear at Macy's in Minneapolis this summer.

The concert, which will be attended by 1,400 people each paying $250 for a ticket, takes place on July 7.
