Queen plan comeback
Yahoo! Music, Jan 16, 2007 4:00 pm PSTFormer Queen star Brian May has spoken of his excitement about the decision to reform the band and go back on tour.
May and Roger Taylor are understood to be recording a new album with vocalist Paul Rodgers, formerly of Free, once again replacing Freddie Mercury.
There are also plans for live dates from the group, apparently under the name of Queen, despite the group lacking the presence of iconic frontman Mercury.
May said the duo, who are also set to go ahead without founding bass player Roger Deacon, have recorded some "great" new songs with Rodgers.
He explained: "We went in the studio to see what happens, because we've already tested it pretty good on stage and that works great. And we went in almost unprepared and came up with some tracks, which I think are really great. They're very different, they're very unlike anything that we've done, or anything that Paul's done."
Speaking about plans for new live shows, May continued: "It's gonna be good, because next time we go out, we won't just be nostalgia, we will be: 'This is what we are.'"
