Raconteurs call on Ricky Skaggs for new recording
AP, Dec 1, 2008 7:00 pm PSTJack White and his band the Raconteurs called on Ricky Skaggs to help them record a bluegrass-inspired version of their song "Old Enough." The new version will be released as a single exclusively through Amazon.com beginning Tuesday before going to other digital retailers and to stores next week.
The Nashville-based rock band also brought in country singer Ashley Monroe for the track, which originally appeared on their album "Consolers Of the Lonely."
Raconteurs drummer Patrick Keeler says the group wanted to show a different side of their music and work with a couple of Nashville artists they respect.
Skaggs is a 13-time Grammy winner who's had a successful career in country and bluegrass. Monroe has written songs for Norah Jones, Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler.
