Sambora Rocked with DUI Charges
E! Online, Apr 22, 2008 9:00 am PDTRichie Sambora is about to face the music. Police pulled over Sambora at about 10:52 p.m. on March 25 after spotting his Hummer H2 straddling two lanes on the Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.
Prosecutors in Southern California have slapped the Bon Jovi guitarist with a pair of charges stemming from last month's drinking-and-driving bust in Laguna Beach.
Sambora, 48, was charged with two misdemeanor counts—driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 or higher—Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas announced Tuesday.
If convicted, the Lost Highway rocker faces up to six months in the slammer.
After flubbing several field sobriety tests, the axman was taken into custody and given a blood test in lieu of a Breathalyzer. Authorities have not yet disclosed the results of his blood-alcohol content.
One count on which Sambora wasn't rung up: child endangerment. Police had recommended the charge because Sambora was driving with his and Heather Locklear's 10-year-old daughter, Ava, and another minor in the vehicle. The D.A., however, declined.
Arraignment has been scheduled for May 7 in Newport Beach.
