Hargrove's next album, Moment To Moment, is scheduled for release on May 9 in the U.S. and on April 24 in Europe and Japan. The album includes standards like the title track, which was originally done by Henry Mancini, and "How Insensitive," an original from Antonio Carlos Jobim. Moment To Moment is Hargrove's first album since the 1997's Grammy-winning Habana and features 12 ballads, including his interpretation of Pat Metheny's "Always and Forever" as well as some original compositions. Moment To Moment showcases Hargrove's trademark trumpet and flugelhorn playing, but it also features strings on alternating tracks of the album, for which Larry Willis, Gil Goldstein, Cedar Walton, and Hargrove did the arrangements.
