Among the contributors to the 17-track album are Pete and Mike Seeger, Van Dyke Parks, the Chieftains' Paddy Moloney, mandolin player Roland White, Stefon Harris and Flaco Jiminez. Cooder also sings on the record, having yielded vocal duties to other artists on "Chavez Ravine."
That set was a critical, if not commercial, smash, although it reached No. 2 on Billboard's Top World Music Albums chart and No. 4 on Top Latin Albums. It was also nominated for a Grammy for best folk album.
"My Name Is Buddy" will be accompanied by a booklet featuring a story and illustration (by Vincent Valdez) for each track, providing additional context to Buddy's adventures.
