Shaggy's 'Lucky Day' Is Today

Yahoo! Music, Oct 29, 2002 12:00 pm PST
(10/29/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- The title of Shaggy's album, Lucky Day, out Tuesday (October 29), was borrowed from a song title on the record.

The reggae act from Kingston, Jamaica told LAUNCH that the song explains why women call him "Mr. Lover Lover."

"It's basically asking a question: 'Are you looking for a man to make you lose control?/A man who when you need a friend will fulfill that role?/Be a life blanket when you're feeling cold?/Girlfriend, this is your lucky day/They don't call me Mr. Lover 'cause I like ice cream/I'm Mr. Lover 'cause I fulfill dreams/When last ya man made you came and scream?/Girlfriend, this is ya lucky day/So that sums it up."

Shaggy added that his good luck is extended to those who purchase the album. "You pick up a Shaggy CD baby, it's ya lucky day. Not just for the female, but for the men. Dude, if you ain't getting laid, you pick up a Shaggy CD, you gon' get laid. Ladies you pick up a Shaggy CD, you'll be moist. However you look at it. So I mean, I'm cool with it. Yeah."

Shaggy's 2000 album, Hotshot, sold more than 10 million copies.

The following is the Lucky Day track listing: "Shake Shake Shake," "Full Control," "Hookie Jookie," "Hey Sexy Lady," "Get My Party On," "Lucky Day," "Strength Of A Woman," "Lost," "Strange Love," "Leave Me Alone," "These Are The Lips," "Give Thanks," "Walking In My Shoes," and "We Are The Ones."
