After selling nearly a half-million in its first week, T.I.'s T.I. vs. T.I.P. moved another 175,000 copies in its second go-round to hold off the reunited Smashing Pumpkins for the week-ended Sunday.
The rapper's split-personality opus, which features contributions from Wyclef Jean, Jay-Z, Eminem, Busta Rhymes and Nelly, has sold a total of 644,000, per Nielsen SoundScan.
Back with their first new album in seven years, the Smashing Pumpkins sold 145,000 copies of Zeitgeist to open at number two.
Even in its heyday, the band never topped the Billboard 200. At number two, Zeitgeist ties 1998's Adore as the group's highest career chart position. During the seven-year break, Billy Corgan's post-Pumpkins work included a solo album and one with his short-lived band Zwan, neither of which did much damage on the charts.
Meanwhile, Interpol scored its first Top 10 bow as the band's major-label debut, Our Love to Admire, sold 73,000 copies at number four. Like labelmates the Decemberists, Interpol had been indie standard-bearers before signing with Capitol. Previously with Matador, the New York alt-rockers made it to number 15 with their last indie release, 2004's Antics.
Speaking of indie rock, Spoon landed its own career high with Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga selling 46,000 copies at 10. The Merge act previously opened at 44 with 2005's Gimme Fiction.
With her single "Big Girls Don't Cry" making waves at radio, Black Eyed Pea sexpot Fergie climbed back into the Top 10 with her solo album, The Dutchess. Climbing three spots to number eight, the disc sold another 50,000 copies in its 43rd week, pushing its tally well past 2.2 million.
The rest of the Top 10 were familiar faces: Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus at three, Kelly Clarkson's My December at five, Bon Jovi's Lost Highway at six, Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight at seven and Amy Winehouse's Back to Black at nine.
New arrivals outside the Top 10, included Disney sister act Aly & AJ, who sold 39,000 copies of Insomniatic at 15, and the Hairspray soundtrack, which unloaded 37,000 at 20. Punk vets Bad Religion followed at 35, selling 21,000 copies of New Maps of Hell.
Other noteworthy debuts included the Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix soundtrack at 43, Crowded House's Time on Earth at 46 and Against Me!'s New Wave at 57.
In its fourth week, Brad Paisley's 5th Gear slipped out the Top 10, but the country star had another milestone to celebrate. His 2005 album Time Well Wasted registered its 100th week on the charts. Currently at 138, Time Well Wasted sold another 5,000 copies for the week, which edged it past the 2 million mark.
Meanwhile, on the singles sales chart, Beyoncé's "Get Me Bodied" rocketed to the number one spot, ending the multiweek reign of American Idol alum Mandisa's "Get Me Bodied."
Overall, sales were slow, down 5 percent from last week and down nearly 11 percent compared to the same period in 2006.
Here's a rundown of the Top 10 albums:
1. T.I. vs T.I.P., T.I.
2. Zeitgeist, Smashing Pumpkins
3. Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, Miley Cyrus
4. Our Love to Admire, Interpol
5. My December, Kelly Clarkson
6. Lost Highway, Bon Jovi
7. Minutes to Midnight, Linkin Park
8. Dutchess, Fergie
9. Back to Black, Amy Winehouse
10. Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, Spoon
