Fed up with epic long songs that include unnecessary drum solos, the collective of Vic Wayne (guitar/vocals), Steve Monteith (guitar/vocals), Robert Medic (bass), and Rene Lafleur (drums) got together Star Collector in late 1997. With a more straightforward approach of mod influenced pop and roll, the band self-released their debut single, Skyscraper & Slowfade, in 1998 before their first full-length, Demo Model 256, came out the following year. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
