Sting Becomes First International Star To Play Thailand Since Tsunami
Yahoo! Music, Jan 16, 2005 7:00 am PSTSting has become the first international star to perform in Thailand since the tsunami disaster last month. His concert, which was held this week in Bangkok, raised $50,000 for victims of the disaster, including a $20,000 donation from Sting himself, according to sting.com.
The 53-year-old singer was forced to cancel a show in Sri Lanka in mid-February due to the devastation there, but is scheduled to play concerts in Malaysia and India early next month. He hopes to raise more than $700,000 for tsunami victims with a benefit concert on February 10 in Australia.
Sting will kick off a 14-city North American tour on April 1 in San Jose, California.
